A Shorthand History of the Japanese Battle Tops
Beyblade is a long-time running toyline since the late 90s. The stylized battle top is inspired by the Kamakura period toy called “beigoma”. Interest in battle tops resurged when Takara Tomy introduced Beyblade to the market. Hasbro obtained the license to sell Beyblade, along with the Western localization of the media series, internationally in 2002.
From the Playgrounds to Online Battle
BEYBLADE BURST app retains the fundamentals of the physical Beyblade while making it very accessible. Players can create their own personalized profiles and custom Beyblade Burst tops by combining parts and battle opponents in over 90 countries. They are provided with an intuitive digital top selector for convenient navigation. They can challenge each other to reach the top of the leaderboards and earn achievements to level up. Winning each match rewards players with Beyblade parts. The scoreboard also lists all points earned from PvP battles. Players can choose either online Digital Battles or physical Toy Battles. Digital Battles reward the winner with Blader points in the scoreboard. Toy Battles allow players to record their battle results in the Battle League. This game features Battle League to host digital Beyblade leagues. Each season has a bracketed tournament format. Players can invite everyone to multi-round tournaments. The length of league seasons can be selected from 1 day to 1 month.
RC Functionality and Beystadium Access
BEYBLADE BURST app features RC functionality with Bluetooth-enabled Beyblade Burst tops. Players must ensure that access to Bluetooth, location, and camera is granted. They can scan the Energy Layer of their physical Beyblade and control it remotely after granting access. The RC feature can change the spin direction of the Beyblade by simply swiping left or right. Players can charge up power for unleashing special Avatar attacks. The game is also compatible with the Beyblade Burst Turbo Slingshock physical stadium. It has a rail system, letting digital tops propel through the stadium rails towards the game’s Battle Ring. The unique feature of the Turbo Slingshock stadium is that it grants Slingshock power-up bonuses.
