The program was announced by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on 8th June 2023 at Chandubi Amrit Plantation. It encourages the planting of 1 crore seedlings across the state and involves various groups such as Self Help Group Members, ASHA workers, supervisors, police, educational institutes, and Anganwadi workers for commercial tree planting.
To participate, users need to register on the web portal or mobile app. After planting a seedling and uploading an image of the planted seedling with geolocation and timestamp, they will receive a financial grant of Rupees 100 as a Direct Beneficiary Transfer. Additionally, if the plant survives, another grant of Rupees 200 will be given in the third year.
Seedlings will be distributed free of charge from pre-defined collection centers at the district/block level. The program emphasizes the importance of geotagged photos to avail of the financial grant and expects participants to take responsibility for the care of the tree.
